[Opinions] Talitha and Annabel
are my favorite names right now. What do you think of them?
Some questions:
how do you pronounce Talitha? I say tah-LEE-ta, but I don't know whether that is correct or not. I like the nickname Tali (TAH-lee).
Is Talitha too close to Lolita? I like the sound of Lolita and Lalita as well, but not the image the name Lolita has.
Is Annabel getting too common? Will people usually spell it Annabelle? How would you assume it was spelled?
Do you pronounce Annabel and Annabelle the same? Because I put the emphasis on the Belle part (Annabelle) and on the first syllable (Annabel).

I love both! They are among my favorite names for girls. :)
1. I say TAL-ith-ah, to rhyme with Tabitha. I also like the nickname Tali.
2. It is the way you are pronouncing it, but the way I'm pronouncing it I don't think they are too similar.
3. No, I don't think so. Not yet anyway. It might shoot up in popularity due to the trendiness of similarly frilly girl names like Isabella and Sophia though. I prefer the Annabel spelling. I'm not sure how most people would want to spell it. I always want to spell it Annabel.
4. Yes, I pronounce them the same, without emphasizing the second syllable too much.

I pronounce Talitha like Tabitha but with an L. TAL-i-tha. That way it's nowhere near Lolita! I've known a couple of Afrikaans Talithas, and they pronounce it TAH-li-tah. Good name; good history. Very popular in the 19th century, though more as a slogan than a name, in line with early feminism.
Annabel isn't common where I live, unfortunately. I like it a lot. I dislike the -lle spelling for Annabel, Isabel, Rosabel ... inaccurate and needlessly fancied up.
Nobody says iz-a-BEL, surely, for Isabelle? So why would Annabelle be any different? Apart from also being inaccurate, and fake-French, it's a long name already and doesn't need to be longer.

Both are nice names & would actually make a nice sibset.
how do you pronounce Talitha?
I pronounce it tah LEE tha
Is Talitha too close to Lolita? absolutely not. I would not think Lolita at all if I saw Talitha

I like both spellings & wouldn't assume either way. I don't think it is too popular. Annabel is spunkier & more outgoing to me, and Annabelle is softer, gentler, more Southern.

I do pronounce them the same with the emphasis on the Ann

I say TAL-i-tha, very similar to Tabitha. Tali is very pretty. I don't think it's at all too close to Lolita or Lalita even with your pronunciation, the T is a much stronger sound thank an L.
Annabel doesn't seem too common at all to me. It's rising but it's still only ranked 722 in the US. I think alot of people would spell it Annabelle right off, but it would be a pretty even split. I do the same emphasis thing you do a little, but mostly they sound the same to me.

I've never seen Talitha before, but I'd say TAL-i-thə like it has listed here. It has a neat meaning, I see, but I don't like the look or sound of it at all. I would probably avoid using Lolita if I'd used Talitha, but I don't think they're so similar it would be horrible to have two sisters with those names.
I wouldn't say Annabel is getting too common here, but I think it has potential to get quite common. I have no idea what other people would assume... probably Annabelle because they wouldn't know Annabel was a possibility and they'd just do Anna + Belle. But I prefer Annabel, it's much less frilly. I pronounce them both the same.

I think Talitha could grow on me, though I don't see myself using it. Annabel reminds me of one of my favourite poems (Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe), so I think it's very beautiful, but unfortunately, too popular for my liking at the moment.
I pronounce Talitha like TAL-i-tha (sounds like Tabitha, but with an "l"). Tali is a cute nickname!
If you're pronouncing Talitha as tah-LEE-ta, then, yes, I think it is too close to Lolita. However, the way I say it, they do not seem too close, imo.
Unfortunately, Annabel is far too popular for my liking. That being said, I do love it (because of the poem I mentioned before), and I would consider using it anyway! Personally, I automatically spell it Annabel, unless the person spells it for me or I know it is spelled differently.
I pronounce Annabel and Annabelle the same way, with emphasis on the first syllable.
