We have an activity called the Freyer model which helps students understand new vocabulary. The word is in the center of the page, and the rest is divided into four sections. One for the definition, one for traits of the new word, one for examples of the new word and one for non examples. Ex- tree. A tall plant. Wooden trunk, branches, leaves. Apple tree, pine tree, maple tree, magnolia. Grass, flowers, mushrooms. I couldn't use it as a name because of this connection.
