[Opinions] Kerys
I was reading a story and came across this and really liked it. Does anyone else?
By the way, it's not some trendy version of Carys, though it come from the same roots(it means 'the beloved place'), it's the name of a city in a Breton legend I like (The Destruction of Ker-Ys).

It may not be trendy, but it certinately looks like it. I think people will assume it is spelled with a C and spell it wrong all the time, so I would advise going to Cerys instead.Where I live, Cerys is not that unusual, but Kerys would be.

I'm familiar with the legend, and I'm fairly sure Ker Ys means 'the fortress below'; not an expert on Breton, but in Welsh 'caer' means fortress and 'is' means below, and the languages are extremely similar.
It's a cool source for a name! but it does look like an alt. spelling of Cerys.

I got the meaning from the story, so the author definitely could have been wrong. Thanks!

Cerys is a variant of Carys, so it's probably just a more Anglicised spelling someone's come up with. I much prefer the original, personally.

I would prefer Carys or Cerys myself. My first name begins with "Ker" and I don't like it. Not big on K names.

I love the name Carys so much! I would spell it like that as that's the most popular way, and I feel it looks the best.
But any way to use this name is great cause it's so beautiful

A version can be read here- http://www.celtnet.org.uk/legends/ker-ys.html. My favorite version is by Peter Tremayne, and has a different plot in which she seduces and takes revenge on a king of Bro Erech who wronged her family, and his ghost tricks her into destroying the city. You can find that one in The Giant Book of Myths and Legends (1995), which is a fantastic book.
