I like Marie as a first name paired with an elegant and/or lyrical middle name, but I am one of those people who generally don't like it used as a middle name.
I probably like Miriam more, though I also prefer that as a first name.
Have you ever heard the name Mariam or Mariama? That's my favorite version.
