[Opinions] Demeter & Eponine
Two names that are on my mind today. WDYT?
Replies
I prefer Demeter's looks and mythological roots to the way it actually sounds, but I can still appreciate it. I prefer Demetra and Demetria, though.
Eponine is a cool name. I'm not too sure about the "ep" sound, but I still like the name as a whole.

They're both pretty, but I'm not particularly enthralled by either. Eponine is pretty written down but I don't particularly care for the sound, and Demeter...I've always liked the eclectic look of it and the interesting mythology, but it also seems a bit self-righteous-hippyish and while it's nice, it's not a name which particularly sticks in my mind.
Oops, wrong place.

I think Demeter is interesting, uncommon, but not "weird". On the right girl it could be great.
Not a fan of Eponine though. It just seems massively overdramatic. I don't hate the musical/book Les Miserables, but I definitely dislike this name. I've seen it quite a few times on the boards though... if you like it, you're not alone!

I like Demeter but it has always been a GP for me. I like the mythology connected to it. But I have this weird thing about the sound of the name, part of me kind of likes it and the other part of me just feels like it so blah.
I'm really not fond of the sound of Eponine. It's connection to the musical is cool but I just don't like the name.

Gavroche, Enjolras, then Eponine
I have an obsession with the singing voice of small boys with cockney accents. XD It's a little scary.
Plus, OH MY GOD Enjolras's voice.
I have a soft spot for Marius because of my crush on him when I was little. I love Jean Valjean and Javert(mostly for their voices and deep characterization). The Thenardiers are love when it comes to the musical, but in the book they're just the villain that has no upside.
Clearly, I can go on and on as well. XD

Yesyesyesyesyes!
I completely agree with all that you said!
Who do you prefer for Enjolra's role? Ramin Karimloo or Michael Maguire?
How many times have you seen it?

Oh god, don't make me choose! I love their voices the same, but Ramin is slightly more powerful in his facial expressions.
Unfortunately, I've never seen it. I've read the book three times(two abridged, once the full thing) and I've seen a couple of the movie version. Plus the concerts and I have two full recordings(with almost everything). I've also read the entire script. I'm hoping to see it in the fall! It's nuts how the touring cast isn't coming to New York anytime soon.

YES! Ramin is so adorable too. Michael's good, but Ramin has a better vocal range, I think.
REALLY? Oh my! I've seen it about 8 times live and I have the movie, book, the 25th Ann. DVD, and 10th Ann. DVD, plus 4 different versions of the album, including the original French. I'm obsessed with it.
I hope you do see it! I'm begging my mom to let me go twice. It's coming to the state next to us [45 minutes] and about 25 minutes from where I live. She knows how much I love it.

Demeter I really like. I know a few Demeter's / Demitria's, most who go by Demi. They're all great girls so I think fondly of the name. Plus I like the history of the name.
Eponine is... interesting. I like the aesthetic, but I don't know...

Eponine! Les Miserables! Love it!
Demeter is actually a really nice name, but I wouldn't use it.

Demeter is very attractive to me. I love the even, measured tone. Plus I'm into feminine names ending in an "r" sound. Nn Mimi would be cute.
Eponine seems more of a GP. It's so strongly tied to "Les Miserables" which is a distraction for me. I'm not digging the "Epo-" beginning. But possible nn Nina is sweet.
