[Games] Amara's Sci-Fi Congrats discussion!
Woo, since I'll have some free time this week, I thought I'd get my first ever congrats up and running. First off: Discussion:Of course, the spin on this Congrats is that it's hopefully sci-fi based to some extent. So this leads to a couple of questions naturellement. Firstly, do you want this to be narrative run? This means that writing however much you want about your family and their lives over the run of the congrats is, as always, completely optional, but every so often with a round I'll throw in a little narrative bit you can either completely ignore or respond to as you wish. It'd be cool to have a vote option as to what happens over each following round, but I know that would be too complicated even if it is a nifty idea.Secondly... what flavour of sci-fi do you want? We have Steam-Punk (because everyone loves Victorians and advanced technology and space exploration with steam powered trains and... I'm shutting up, okay?), futuristic (dystopian, utopian, set in the future but with echoes of Victoriana, the 20s, the 40s, hell, even the Roman Empire if enough of you want it... only the Roman Empire with space! Which is a scary thought indeed), something involving... I dread to say... aliens, and, of course, set on Earth, the Moon, Mars, or some deep space colonised planet hurtling around an unfamiliar sun. It's really up to you! If you let me know, we'll go with the majority vote but I'll try to keep everyone happy. Oooh, I hope that I'm not biting off too much, but I don't know how many takers we'll have yet. Names will be name-bank or link related, and definitely feature some odd ones, some star/astronomical/planetary etc names and some classics, but the rest depends on the direction the Congrats setting goes. I know this is a bit crazy, but I hope it'll be fun!Of course, this isn't a sign up proper, but if you're interested in taking part of course mention. Or don't. Because if you're replying it's probably one of those things that can be left unsaid. I'll put a proper sign-up thread up when we know the setting everyone's interested in, and then we can take it from there.Sorry for over-complicating things, guys, but since this a little bit different to usual Congrats I thought it was worth the time talking about it before.Awesome!:)

I'm mostly into a little bit of story - not too much, perhaps, but I'll definitely write a two or three paragraphs. Maybe the usual little prompt or two, and setting exposition?Setting! Wow, I'm into almost anything here. Old Empires...IN SPACE! is always a good idea, though an entirely new place is good too. My vote goes for steampunk first, futuristic second, and entirely new place/planet/what-have-you third. I'm quite excited with this, actually - will be a bit busy nowadays, but won't miss up on the game.Oh, and as an additional note: the video game Fallout: New Vegas contains post-apocalyptic Roman Empire copycats. Yes, it is a bit scary.

I'd playMy vote is dystopian with a mix of a bunch of name banks, rules, initials, links, etc., just to be interesting. I love the idea of a sci-fi congrats, so I'll play whatever you decide.

I'm a futuristic machine. That's what makes me love 80's music; it sounds futuristic even today!

Hmm i'm certainly interested. I"d vote for futuristic first, then steampunk second. Though either works, futuristic might be more fun, since names could be crazier.I'd be willing to do a little bit of narration, like a paragraph a round, but not much more than that.

Aderyn covered it all. That's pretty much what I was thinking as well.:)
