As I said in my own post, Jesca was the Elizabethan form of the original Biblical name (probably partially via I -> J switching, also seen in such names as Iason -> Jason and Iakobos -> Jacob), and Jessica's simply an elaboration of that.I used to theorise that Jessica could be a combo of Iscah and Jesse, but was proven wrong upon further research. Shakespeare probably actually combined Jesca and the original Iscah to arrive at Jessica.
