You aren't crazy I like them too :) Mostly just because of Hildegard of Bingen and possible nn Hilde ("HILL-dee")
Hildegarde seems more complete to me

I prefer Hildegarde and yes you may be crazy for liking it! My DH's grand-aunt's name was Hildegarde (they immigrated to the US from Germany). I have no prefernce to this name because it sounds so harsh. I guess I do not want to think of a little girl as a "guard" which is what it sounds like. I dont like Hilde much either.
I think I prefer Hildegarde better. I like them too, but I wouldn't seriously use it as a first name.
Not crazy at all. I think Hildegard is lovely.
Not crazy at all! They're towering, historically rich, strongly feminine names that make my heart palpitate. I prefer Hildegarde, but Hildegard is just as grand.
I'm not a fan, but I think Hildegard looks better. Is it a male or female name?
Female, if you'd click the link you'd see :)
