Jessica Alba and hubby Cash Warren have welcomed another daughter:

She joins big sister Honor Marie (3).
WDYT? I am not a fan of the name. Am unsure where Garner comes from - it may be a family name. Any one know? Haven just sounds kind of masculine to me and when coupled with Garner its sounds even more masculine

Haven is a decent name, but I don't care for the Garner part. The combo sounds too masculine. They could have at least given her a feminine middle name like they did her sister. Combo wise, I think they chose better the first time around.

The name does feel really masculine-- Haven does tend to lean more feminine, but it was sort of to this point where if a celebrity had given it to a son, I could have seen it swinging to males. And I prefer it for a boy anyway. Paired with Garner it seems very masculine, though I understand it's honoring.
Really don't care for how the names are both 5-letter words starting with H. Could they match a little more, maybe? :P

It has that trendy -aven ending, so I suppose it was only a matter of time. Well, at least you were (probably) the only one with the name growing up.

But Garner is a surname, and I'd imagine it's a family name for Cash. Nothing wrong with family surnames for a girl's mn. It used to be quite common in at least the 1700s-1800s.

Yeah, I don't see how that would only work for a boy. It's a middle name- pretty much anything is up for grabs, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think it's very appealing to the eye, it looks rather harsh. I don't mind Haven, Garner I hate (unless it's honoring someone).

Haven is way nicer than Honor. I approve. Honor Warren sounds terribly harsh IMO. Haven Warren doesn't flow very nicely and I never would have picked an -en name to go with a -en surname, but I guess it's not that big a deal. I don't think Haven sounds masculine at all. It's a feminine concept so I am not seeing how it could be masculine. Honor, on the other hand, does kinda. Reminds me of knights falling on their swords. And Honor sounds stuckup and chilly to me (and unfortunately too much like "on her"), but Haven sounds modest and kind.

Yeah, I'm not getting the masculine thing, either. I knew a guy named Haven, but the few others I've met were female. It's a girls' name, as far as I'm concerned.

It is pretty funny.
I called my dad and told him he was thirty years before his time. It's especially funny because my husband uses Xander as a nickname, another 'hip' name. I told him we could be toddlers to a hipster.

I look at Haven as one of those few *true* unisex names, where it will as likely be used for a girl as it would for a boy (Morgan is also in this category). Personally, I don't mind Haven. Although Garner makes it much more masculine, even if it's a family name (which I assume it is). I wonder if Honor & Haven both starting with H is a coincidence, or intentional? Altogether, I actually think it's a nice sibset.
Looking at a post with the title "BARF" below, I assumed the name would be much worse. But honestly, Haven Garner is *not* terrible.

I was just reading this. Haven Garner is very atrocious and ugly. Then again, I hate Jessica Alba, so I can't say I'm surprised.
