[Opinions] Opinions on Rowan
I recently saw this name in a book and thought to myself "Wow, I really love that name!"
So now I'm wondering...what other people think about it?
Is it better for a girl or boy? I personally like it for both.
Also, what are some good middle names for it?

I really like it for both but slightly more for a girl and spelled Rowen
Yeah, I saw the name first spelled Rowen, but when I looked it up on here it was Rowan soo that's what I went with.
It's a tree. XP
Rowan for a boy, Rowena for a girl, and I like both.
Once I knew an excellent Rowan John ... which is OK but lacks sparkle.
Rowan Patrick
Rowan Gregory
Rowan Clive
Rowan Dominic
Rowan Kenneth

I love it for a boy and like it for a girl. Since it's unisex, I'd go with something obviously masculine or obviously feminine as a middle name depending on which gender you use it on.

I love Rowan. It's all boy to me. Even though I have only met female Rowans- I just always think "no, that's not right" when I meet one.
I definitely prefer Rowan on a boy. Love the name though.
I think I like it better for a boy...
But I know a girl I used to work with named Rowan, who was just horrible. I really don't like it for a girl. But for a boy, I can deal.

Traditionally Rowan is a boy's name. And with the current craze for "stealing" male names for little girls I'm pretty strict about keeping traditional boy names for boys. I love Rowan on a boy.
But if I'm honest I have to admit that as a name of a plant, Rowan is fair game for either sex. I still think with so many other great names for girls that Rowan should remain in the male column. But I feel guilty about saying that.
Could I interest you in Garnet for a girl instead? Garnet Rhiannon is a stock combo of mine.

No offense, but I don't think I could name a girl that! :)
Oh, none taken! :-)
It was just a thought that crossed my mind as those two names always felt... um... not too different to me :-)

Totally agree, they are probably known to most people as boy and girl versions of each other.
