Emeline was in no hurry to another child after Gaspard's birth, rather she and Jacques were truly just enjoying being a family. All was well in Rossinest and even Jacques's father had seemed to get the message that he was not a welcome part of their lives any longer.
When Gaspard was 3 years old the King and Queen decided that it was time to produce more heirs and set to the oh so difficult task of trying to make a baby. Emeline found herself expecting once again without too much effort and the Kingdom rejoiced. Right from the beginning however, Emeline felt that this pregnancy was different. She was exhausted constantly, more ill than she could ever remember being before in her life and for the first few months found it exceedingly difficult just to rise out of her bed in the mornings. Her stomach grew much larger as well. Jacques supported her as much as possible and between himself and Emeline's brothers they managed to make it so Emeline had very little stress to concern herself with.
Time passed and for the last month Emeline stayed in bed. Young Gaspard would spend his days curled up at his mothers side reading to her, or just ensuring that she had everything she needed in a way that only a son who adores his mother can. When she finally went into labour the whole palace rejoiced that at last the babe would be born and end the queens horrible pregnancy. Her labour was much more arduous than Gaspard's but Emeline being the proud, strong woman she is just pushed harder. Finally a son was born and Emeline's heart soared at his cry. She only enjoyed her wee boy for a moment however when the urge to push overcame her once more, and suddenly it became very clear to everyone why this pregnancy had been so much more taxing - twins!
Emeline was exhausted and had last a large amount of blood during the birth, to the extreme that she had fallen unconscious before she'd even found out the sex of the second twin born. The babes were wisked away to be tended to the the physicians set to work on saving the Queen's life. Jacques was terrified that he may lose his beloved wife, but the physicians stabilised her quickly and then they just had to wait. Emeline finally awoke 3 days later full of colour and spirit demanding to see her babes. Jacques and Gaspard, neither of whom had barely left Emeline's side, were so relieved and quickly went to nursury to collect the tiny additions.
Emeline was so in love with her 3 boys, and secretly very pleased that so far she'd had all sons as having older brothers was so very important to Emeline herself. Emeline and Jacques explained to Gaspard what it meant to be an older sibling in the royal family of Rossinest and Gaspard nodded his head in understanding, instantly making it his lifes mission to protect his siblings at any cost.
The twins were named after Emeline's father whom she missed very much, and also after her brothers who had always been there for her. This delighted the royal advisers who knew that naming them after the beloved King Aldric and the seven Princes would be an undeniably popular choice. They also couldn't help but reinforce what Emeline already knew deep down, another child would be needed, and soon, as to have the youngest children of the King and Queen be twins could be disaster. After the twins birth the thought of doing that again so soon terrified Emeline, but a Queen must do what a Queen must do for the sake of her kingdom.
