Help[Opinions] Phoebe
What do you think of Phoebe? Likely with nicknames Bee or maybe Phee? Is it overly cutesy? Would it age well? Just what are you general thoughts/opinions on it?

This is one name I can never like. It looks awkward and sounds really cutesy. It reminds me of germs and phobias, because it looks close to phobia.

I like Phoebe and named one of my parents' dogs this. I prefer it for pets, but it's fine for people as well. It's friendly sounding and has a bit of a quirky feel at the same time.
Bee and Phee are perfectly fine as nicknames. If Bea/Bee can work as a nickname for Beatrice and Beatrix, why not Bee as a short form of Phoebe?

I love the look of Phoebe. If it was spelled Fibi or Feebee or something it'd be so much less appealing to me. I think it's just as cutesy as Chloe and Zoe but with way more spunk. It's in and out of my top ten, so there you go. I do enjoy Phoebe. I like Bee, Phoebs and Phee as nicknames in that order.

I quite like it, and the character (in As You Like It) is a hoot. The only actual Phoebe I ever knew was a very tough lady indeed, close to retirement, who ruled a large and diverse department with several rods of iron. But it's still a good name.

I prefer it in the middle slot, where it's less expected, but I certainly enjoy meeting girls/women named Phoebe (I've known several in my life).

I have never been a fan of this name. I know several, and even though I love the people, their names have never grown on me. Something about the spelling just seems really awkward to me.

I have a soft spot for it because it's my niece's name. If not for that lovely association, though, I wouldn't care for it.
It's strange because I used to think I really liked it, and you would think that loving a Phoebe so much would help cement my love of the name, but now that I hear/see/say/think about it all the time, the opposite is true. It's a little too twee.
I don't think Phoebe needs or benefits from a nn, but we sometimes call our Phoebe Pheebs and Phoebe-be-be.

I can see the appeal, and I like it for its Greekness and its birdness. However, I probably wouldn't use it because of its cuteness. I like Phee as a nn, Bee is cute too but I'm not really a fan of the B sound (especially when the alternative is a soft pretty sound like Ph).
Belphoebe on the other hand, has all of the coolness and none of the cuteness. It would definitely age well and its nicknames could be Bel, Bella, Belle, Bell, Phoebe, Phee, Bee, etc. A Belphoebe could even be just Phoebe most of the time. This is definitely less usable as a full name, however.
