[Opinions] Lucy?
What’s your insight on the name Lucy? What words come to mind when you hear it? Is it too childish, too old? Would you use it? Anything you think I wanna know.

It's cute for a pet and as a nickname, but I definitely prefer it as a nickname for Lucinda, Lucia, Lucina, Luciana, etc. As a full name, Lucy seems on the childish side and insubstantial even though a lot of people named Lucy have Lucy as a full name. I don't think that it's so cutesy and childish that it's bad as a full name, though. I just prefer it as a nickname.
I used Lucy for a pet. Her name is Lucinda "Lucy." I sometimes even call her Lucille even though it isn't really her name.

Kinda boring and random, but not bad. I prefer Lucille, Lucia or Lucinda. I wouldn't use just plain Lucy even if I didn't already have a relative w/ the name... Though she's Lucia officially, but everyone calls her Lucy... I think of the Peanuts comic strip and Lucille Ball and "I Love Lucy" when I think of the name... and an old friend of mine's Cabbage Patch Kid from younger years.
At the moment I find it a bit boring. When we went on holiday, it seemed like every little girl on the campsite was called Lucy!
I do think it's a little childish, so I might prefer it as a nickname, although I'm really not that keen on Lucille or Lucinda. I wouldn't use it myself.

I expected my daughter to be a Lucy, but she foiled me by not looking like one! I think it's timeless and ageless and very versatile - playful, elegant, serene.
I love the name Lucy and always have. It's probably my second fave girl name, but unfortunately it's quite popular here in Australia. I don't think it's too childish at all and would consider using in the future. No particular words come to mind when I hear the name.
It makes me think of I Love Lucy, which is a great association really. Lucille Ball was awesome. I don't think it's too childish at all, and it's one of the only nicknamey names I think can stand alone. I wouldn't use it personally, but I still think it's a good name.
Two people come to mind when I think of Lucy: Lucille Ball and this little asian girl named Lucy whom I met in a shop while vacationing in Arizona this summer. Lucille Ball is one of my favorite actresses, so that's why I like this name, however the Lucy I met was a little on the bratty side and was a bit rude, so that's what contradicts it for me.
I really like Lucy. It is cute without being cutesy. I can picture it on any age so it feels timeless/ageless to me.
I want to like it enough to use but my aunt and her sisters use it as kind of a generic nickname so I don't think I ever would. Plus my husband's cousin, who has the same last name as us, is planning on using it for their next child if it is a girl.

I love Lucy, and I don't think it's childish at all. I picture a Lucy as being intelligent with a quirky sense of humor and the ability to think on her feet, so only positive words come to my mind when I hear it.
As for whether or not I'd use Lucy, it migrates in and out of my top ten. The family across the street has a dog with the name that's always running loose around the neighborhood, and the thought of standing on the porch calling for my daughter Lucy to come in at the same time they're calling for their dog doesn't thrill me. Still, I love Lucy too much to completely give it up.
My favorite Lucy combo is Lucy Isabelle, with the sometimes nickname Libby.

I really like it but it seems to be growing in popularity. Lucille nn Lucy is in my top ten (Lucille was my great g'mas name) but the more I hear others using it the more it loses its appeal for me.
I think it's incredibly age appropriate for every life stage... ie, I think it sounds both fresh and classic, young and old

I think of Narnia. And the Enid Blyton books (although I'm not even sure if there was a Lucy in there, but it seems like it would've fit in). It seems pleasantly childish and a little bit British for some reason. :)
I wouldn't use it due to popularity, but I do enjoy the name.

I know so many dogs named Lucy but I still love it for a little girl and I think it ages nicely too :)
I like Lucy it's sweet. I know older Lucy's (in thier 20s) and a little Lucy
her name is Lucy Emmeline Bethan but she goes by Lucy Beth alot. So cute
I wouldn't use it but only because my best friend has always said she wants a daughter Lucy and a son Christopher so I wouldn't steal it

I love Lucy and would use it if dh agreed (he does not). I'm not sure certain words come to mind when I think of it, however, I picture someone who is friendly, quirky, intelligent and who possesses a lot of wit and charm. I don't think it's too childish at all. The only drawback I can see is the nn "Goosey Lucy." Then again, it's no worse than "Anna Banana." It's definitely doable. My fave Lucy combos are Lucy Eleanor and Lucy Marigold.
I like it. It's childish but ages well. I like it by itself and as a nn for Lucia. It reminds me of Lucy Pevensie.
Yes. I love it. It brings to mind shades of blue and violet. It is neither childish nor old. I would use it if my partner really loved it, or maybe even by my own volition.
Lucy Virginia and Lucy Caroline are favorite combos of mine.
