I love Peter but feel I have to qualify that statement by saying that I love the NAME Peter (and therein lies the problem which is that it's slang for the male member). Sigh ... I wish that baggage wasn't attached to the name because it really is an awesome name and I have heard the slang even as an adult. Apparently, some people thing they're so clever. Still, I would be thrilled to meet a young Peter because I can't use it (our surname is Burns -- ouch!). I agree that Pieter wouldn't work in an English culture.
