*Just a quick note, Charlotte is the cousin of Shaina and Rachael, not their sister. Sorry if I didn't make that obvious in my story.
Charlotte got her wish three months ago in the form of a lovely toddler from Germany, Theodore is a sweet little boy and took to Charlotte almost instantly. He doesn't speak much English but Charlotte has been slowly teaching him and he gets along rather well with Simon.
Shaina is taking night classes at the local college to get her diploma and has been doing well. She doesn't talk with Alex often at all, once a month at most, and is starting to miss him less and less with time. She misses her parents and older brother and sister often though, sometimes finding herself crying just because she's reminded of them.
Whenever Shaina has a free moment she spends it with Simon and Theodore, teaching them how to build forts made out of pillows and chairs and helping Simon walk, though he cries when she picks him up when he doesn't want it, and she makes a wonderful Mother.
Rachael has flourished in the last year, making many friends and doing well in school. She has also found a LGBTQ+ friendly church, since she still believes in God, and has been attending and helping out with a few of their fundraisers.
