Hi guys, and welcome to my Halloween congrats. Sign-ups are still welcome, and the sign-up form and information is available at the link above. Just post here and I'll give you your first arrival as soon as possible and you're good to go. To those who have already joined, I'm sorry for the delay in getting this up, as my internet went down yesterday for pretty much...well...until now. Let's hope that doesn't happen again. Rules are as before:
"While this is somewhat plot based, the nature of your writing it up to you. Paragraphs, sentences, notes and bullet points are accepted, in whichever grammatical person or style you wish. The plot will be given in 3-5 bullet plot points each round. This Congrats is set in an AU where zombies, ghouls, witches, warlocks, pumpkin-headed headless horsemen, werewolves and the rest of the Halloween staple cast are presumably as common as a...common thing... but beyond that, I don't want to set any limits. You can create as much of a narrative about this world your respective families live in as you like, and I invite you in the absence of a central Congrats setting to be as creative and wacky or as realistic as you like.
It should be noted that this Congrats will be fantasy / mild-horror / Halloween themed. It might not be to all tastes. While the plots might centre around being bitten by a werewolf, for example, I don't think this will be a problem. However, if in your respective plots you wish to go into more horror and graphic realms, bear in mind the rules of the forum, and mark your replies as being of the more mature variety. I'm pretty sure we won't have any problems and that this goes without saying, but I thought I should say this anyway. If you aren't a horror aficionado, please don't be put off as many of the plot lines will be more fantasy and light-hearted horror. Plotwise, I will try to accommodate everyone's tastes and given the free reign in the setting, you can really do as you like."

AND SO THE TERRIBLE TALE
You each have one new arrival. Congratulations! The species your child may be this round are human and wizarding human (witch/warlock/sorcerer etc). Take to mind the species of your couple, and that the species of the child might not be evident. It's entirely up to you. If you want a human couple to have a baby witch, or visa versa, it's allowed, but worth explaining. Plot points to consider:
#1: The lead-up. How are your couple feeling about having a baby? Are they worried? Why? Are they looking forward to it? And so forth.
#2: The arrival. What is your new arrival like? What species is s/he, how does s/he look, and how is the family reacting to it?
#3: One of your couple is facing difficulty. Either A) As a magic using human, they are having difficulty using their gift after their child's birth. Why? Are they worried that their child will not inherit their gift, or is that a good thing or not a concern at all? B) As a non-magic user, they are worried that their child may have magical abilities. What does this signify? How will they cope? (If you have two human couples, choose one or both to have this anxiety. If you have a wizarding couple, likewise)
If you are keeping up with ages, please add 1-3 years to your preexisting family
NAMING
For this round, the first name must be taken from this namebank (of slightly topical names....next round will be better, internet allowing). The middle name(s) can be up to you. It's great if you feel inspired from the namebank, but if not, feel free to choose another of your own.

It was a difficult decision to make, but Maia and Mortimas finally decided that he would go to the academy, while she stayed with his family. Keeping up his illusion would be much harder, on one hand because the instructors at the academy were more vigilant than the teachers at the town school, and on the other because he would have to mime being someone else not only in school, but also around his peers. And if his cover blew, disaster would break loose. Entering the academy would also mean to be separated for three years... if 'Maia' adhered to the rules, that is. And Mortimas promised he would not. They parted, conviced to see each other again during winter solstice celebrations.
It was Mortimas mother, Saga, who first noticed Maia's pregnancy. She told the more than surprised young woman that she sensed the same shift of aura in Maia she herself had felt when carrying Mortimas. (Certainly the child would take after his father's magical powers.) Maia was upset at first, mad at Mortimas, and determined to travel to the academy to reveal his true identity. After a long talk with Saga she calmed down though. She knew he would immediately come back if he knew about the child. He would give up all he had and cold achieve in the academy to stay with them. Reflecting on this, Maia realised that as much as she wanted him to come back, she didn't want him to give up his dreams. She decided it was time for her to diguise herself. Saga agreed to play along, even though she would have liked for her son to stop studying what she saw as useless formalised abstracitions of real magic.
Mortimas indeed managed to get around the academy's restrictions and slipped away for just long enough to spend the winter solstice with his family. Maia was five months pregnant by now, but Saga and her had made sure he would not notice. Magical illusions of course would be useless, but the simple art of creating illusions out of cloth could trick him. He went back to the academy worrying about nothing more than how to get back in unnoticed, and maybe how to get out the next time.
Winter was barely over when Thorne Bertram was born. He was named after Saga's father from whom Mortimas had inherited much of his looks as well as his talent and interest for higher magic. How fitting his middle name would turn out to be...

At one year old, Annabel-Lee is getting into just about everything. But that's not all. She also seems to have acquired some magical skills from somewhere. After further looking into it, they realize that deep in Cody's family there is the blood of magicians. Anne is now quite angry with Cody, and their relationship is struggling.

Sophie and Gareth were not planning on gettign pregnant so soon. Sophie still had a great deal of training to do to master her witchcraft, and besides she and Gareth already felt like they had a family in Andrew, who looks upon his uncle and new aunt as more of a combination of parents and older siblings. They were, nevertheless, thrilled with the news. Rollo (more and more part of the family and less and less servant as time goes by) was actually the one who announced it. A rather powerful wizard in his own right, he said casually to Sophie one day during her training that, "She won't like it if you try that spell." The spell backfired and Sophie demanded an explanation, which revealed to them all at once that not only were they expecting, but that the baby was a girl. As soon as the excited coupel announced it, Emma and Lucy as well as Gareth's sister Rebecca all descended upon them, offering advice and assistance and generally being good-naturedly pushy. Sophie and Gareth bickered cheerfully about things like decorating the nursury, the finer points of child-rearing, and of course names. Sophie is rather more classic, while Gareth prefers showier and more unusual names. The debate was settled when she was born on a night dominated by a bright full moon. Her first name was clearly meant to be Luna, and Sophie's choice of Rose was made her middle name.

Andromache isn't sure what they will do with the baby if she gets called to court again, but is excited to have it nonetheless. She knows from family history that if it is a girl, she will be a powerful witch and hopefully take the place that Andromache and her ancestors have taken. If it's a boy, it could be a magic-user, but coud also be a regular human, which would be a disappointment.
Dorian is excited and hopes that the baby will be a magic-user, so he can help to train it. Even better if it's a boy, and he can help to develop his warlock skills. But perhaps they could find a wizard to train him?
The child was born just after sunset, and when she opened her mouth the wind changed direction. That's how anyone who hadn't seen that it was a girl knew that a new magic-user had been born in the witch's house. Dorian picked up the baby and stared at her face; she had bown eyes like he did and a bit of dark brown hair. She may be a girl, but she already seemed to be taking after her father.
Since she was a girl and part of an old line of witches, her middle name has been predetermined: Morrigan, the name of her great-grandmother. Her first name was decided when her newborn eyes strayed from those of her father and looked out the window, fixated on the rising moon. "Luna", Andromeda whispered.
Dorian started mouthing the words to a protection spell under his breath, a simple charm to bless the child and keep her safe through the night. But the words stuck in his throat. The syllables ran through his head, but he could not make sense of the words. He looked up in panic at the mother. "Andromache--" he whispered. The child began to squirm. "I can't--"
"Yes, you can." Calmly, Andromache began a spell of her own, and Dorian felt himself close his eyes, but not of his own accord. He felt his throat tingle as the spell came out of his mouth and Andromache held his hand, guiding him through the simple spell as if he were a child. In the end the charm was completed, and Luna gazed up at him, glowing.

Luc and Cami's third year of university hit a minor hiccup when Cami realized she was pregnant. Both were concerned about having a child so young, but Cami was particularly worried that their baby would be born with magical powers. And she'd only just finished helping Luc fully harness his.
Their baby boy was born with hardly any drama at all, to the point where Cami thought he wouldn't be a wizard like his father. He did, however, inherent his father's piercing green eyes and his mother's auburn hair. Two weeks later, he started lighting candles during temper tantrums and making mini whirlpools in the tub at bath time. It's safe to bet this kid is magic! But Cami's willing to help Bram just as she helped her boyfriend, because she 100% without a doubt, would do anything for her son.
