[Opinions] Cabrina - Pronunciation and thoughts?
I came across the name Cabrina not too long ago, and although it's not a name I like, it stood out. My first guess was that the bearer pronounced her name ka-BREE-na like Katrina/Catrina with a "b" instead of a "t", but it might have been pronounced like Sabrina. My guess is that it's a blend of Katrina/Catrina + Sabrina. How would you pronounce it initially, and what are your thoughts on this name? Have you met a Cabrina before?

Unfortunately, I just found some instances of people named Cabrina (pronounced sa-BREE-na) online. As expected, in most cases where the pronunciation was mentioned, it was pronounced ka-BREE-na. Being named Cabrina (pronounced sa-BREE-na) would be quite a pain.

It looks like a typo for either Catrina or Sabrina. I guess you could stick a cedilla on it - Çabrina - and pronounce it Sabrina, but that would be silly.
I haven't met or seen one. It actually reminds me of cabrona.

I pronounce Sabrina to rhyme with Katrina anyway! Never thought there might be an alternative. How do you pronounce it?
Cabrina sounds like a cheap taxi.

I pronounce Sabrina sa-BREE-na, Katrina/Catrina ka-TREE-na, and Cabrina ka-BREE-na.
My first thought was that the girl named Cabrina pronounces her name ka-BREE-na, but I also wondered if perhaps she pronounces it exactly like Sabrina. Sometimes it's hard to know when it comes to tryndee and made-up names. Nevaeh (ne-VAY-a) is a perfect example of how pronunciation is up for grabs when it comes to these kinds of names. The pronunciation doesn't make sense, but people still use it. Even though I'm not a fan of ka-BREE-na, I hope she pronounces it ka-BREE-na and not sa-BREE-na.

My instinctive pronunciation is ka-BREE-na. This is the first time I've seen it.
I love both Sabrina and Katrina, but I'm taking a very dim view of Cabrina. It seems like either a clumsy smush or yet another tryndy variation, a lot like slapping a T on Aidan to make Taidan.

Wait, aren't Katrina with a b and Sabrina with a C pronounced exactly the same way? Both are ka-BREE-na to me. I can't say I've ever met one, and I'm not too found of the brina sound anyway.
My first thought was that it was ka-BREE-na, but because I've seen Serena spelled Cerena and pronounced just like Serena, I wondered if maybe Cabrina was pronounced like Sabrina in her case (with a soft "c" instead of a hard "c"). I didn't hear her name said aloud, so I'm not entirely sure, but most likely, it's ka-BREE-na.
Cs are only soft in front of E's, I's, or Y's
Yes, but would that really stop someone who wanted to say /sa BREE na/ for Cabrina from doing that? I'm not a fan of this new name either.
It reminds me of Suburgatory's KKK. Kenzie, Kaitlin, and Kamantha.

True, but I'd punch them.
Ha, agreed. With tryndee and made-up names people tend to create their own pronunciations, so you just never know.
Oh! I see what you mean now. I thought you were referring to the BREE sound. My bad!
I'd say ka-BREE-na, like Sabrina but with a K sound. I don't think of Catrina, I just thought of Sabrina but with a different letter in tht front.
I've never met one. I'm not sure what I think of it... on first glance it looks odd.
