Probably because Vala seems to be a girls name (they're Swedish, so
Alva
's a girl and
Love
's the boy here, just so you know) and also would be like "Whale-a" in Swedish? ;) They could have gone for something like
Oliva
,
Viola
and
Olavi
though.
