Three years after graduation, Finn and Quinn run into each other in New York. Finn is still living in Lima, working as a manager and mechanic at Burt's shop. Quinn had been awarded custody of her daughter, Beth, after Shelby was charged with third-degree manslaughter. They were both in New York to support Mercedes, who was kicking off her first tour. One thing led to another and Quinn found herself pregnant again. Finn, happy to finally have some meaning in his life after Rachel walked away from him after senior year, let's the naming be up to Quinn. Quinn decides to name the baby after her sister, who she always wished she could be like.
