[Opinions] Re: Harold
in reply to a message by Llewella
I automatically think of it as an old person's name because it is my grandpa's name and he is the only Harold I've met plus it ends in old so I don't think that helps. And I'm not too fond of the nickname Harry, I think hairy, which sounds gross. Oddly it never occurred to me that Harry is the logical nickname until I heard somebody my grandpa kind of knows call him Harry and I laughed so hard. The thought never occurred to me because everyone who really knows him calls him by his middle name and everyone who doesn't know him is proper and calls him Harold or Mr. B______. I do find Harrison a bit charming and may use it as a middle name for a son someday to honor my grandfather because we are really close. His full name is Harold Dewayne "Wayne".

Actually the name Harold reminds me of someone i once knew, a politician to be exact. so the name brings to mind a man who was a leader and achiever. As for Harry, it's pretty hot when you consider Prince Harry of England (grandson of Queen Elizabeth) has that name. And then there was also a guy i once admired whose name was Harlan. he had the nicest smile and outgoing personality. So the "Har" names are all positive for me!
