As I mentioned in a previous post, we are now expecting a baby. And several of you kindly offered opinions on our top 4 girl names.
For a boy, we are considering Simon Erasmus. Do you like Simon? Is there any reason we should avoid it? We like the name a lot, but do have a second-favorite name. So if there is a reason to get gun-shy on Simon, let the criticism fly! :)

I love Simon! It is my boyfriend's middle name and he has told me in the past that he would have liked it as his first name because it is less common. It's a good solid name that has stood the test of time.

I love Simon.
The only thing I can think of is "Simon Says" (the game). If you're unaware of it, it's a popular game teachers use in the classroom (or other children groups - day care, camps) where the children have to do the command Simon gives. "Simon Says touch your nose..."

I like Simon, and I think it's fine. It's not one of my favorite names, but I can't think of anything negative to say about it. It's a good choice.

I like Simon - I think of an intellectual little boy with a curious mind who has a cheeky streak :)
I'm not liking Erasmus though - reminds me of the scheme where you spend a year abroad as part of your university course

I do like Simon, but it's my dog's name. -____- I don't like Erasmus at all. AT. ALL.

I like Simon, and I rarely hear it where I live, so it would be different. I say go for it.

Simon Erasmus is fantastic! I like it!
I have a cousin named Zimon (yup, this spelling) and he is a typical "bad boy" but I don't really associate the name with him because there is a different spelling. So to me Simon sounds very sweet and a bit mischievous in a good way. :)

Can I be honest? I dislike it. I think it's one of those "mommy's boy" names, along with Jonathan. I just think of someone who was breastfed until he was 8 and can't go anywhere without his mom. No offense. Just my impression. Simeon is a lot better.
I don't like Erasmus. It makes me think of the word "orgasm". Sorry, but it gets emphasized by the fact that the German word for "orgasm" is "orgasmus". Argh sorry. I wish I could say something nice.

My personal problem with Simon, and Cyrus, is that they both start with a sigh! And since the first syllable is the natural nn, that seems depressing to me.
Same issue with Megan, when it's pronounced with a long e. Me, me, me. Not good.
That said, Simon Erasmus is a fine combo. If not Simon, what about Peter?
