I think we had this before.
German (also Zündel): from a diminutive of Zunder, a metonymic occupational name for a seller of kindling wood, from Middle High German zunder ‘tinder’.

I want to add, that "Zunder"in Germany usually means the material taken from the mushroom and not a kind of wood, so Zunder or Zu(e)ndel would have been a collector of such mushrooms. (This is what my books say; Rosa und Volker Kohlheim, Familiennamen, Mannheim 2000)
