Living in the city of Casa-di-amore in the country of Paese di Gesù Cristo in the year of 5555.
In the year 5555, Gian-Nathan and Amaryllia are a young couple in love. Many things have changed. The people reverted to the ways of the Medieval time once they realized how badly technology was corrupting them. The countries we knew back in 2011 all split up. The United States is now more than 50 individual countries. Germany has split. Poland has split. Russia has split into almost 100 countries. Italy has split. And out of those new "Italian" countries, comes the country in which Gian-Nathan and Amaryllia live.
Paese di Gesù Cristo is a country which speaks Italian and English--all countries now speak English as well as at least one other, as English has become the world language. P.d.G.C.--as it is called for short--is (supposedly) a thoroughly Catholic country. But, like everywhere else, it has its problems. P.d.G.C. is governed by a family who claims to be Catholic, yet does many things against the Catholic teachings. There are many homosexuals in the di Libri family. There are many who use contraception in the di Libri family. There are many who abort their children in the di Libri family. There are many who allow euthanasia in the di Libri family. Almost all of them commit polygamy, as well as incest and adultery. There have been a few who were murderers. There have been a few who have simply completely thrown the Church out of the picture and gone his one way. In short, the ruling family is in a bad way.
Unfortunately, Gian-Nathan's father is the great Giovanni di Libri, ruler of Paese di Gesù Cristo. Gian-Nathan's mother is Giovanni's aunt. So the di Libri family is just slightly... messed up. Giovanni doesn't even realize that he has another son--after all, he already has many. Why would he need another?
In contrast, Amaryllia's father is the kind, well-loved Lupo di Dio--the librarian and the youth minister at Chiesa dei Santi Carmelitani, the local Catholic church. Amaryllia's mother is an immigrant from Nascondiglio dei Carmelitani--a neighboring small country. Amaryllia's family is quite loved throughout all of Paese di Gesù Cristo.
Yet despite the difference in these two families, Amaryllia and Gian-Nathan are both very devout Catholics with a sense of humor. They are fun to hang around and love to laugh. And they know for sure that neither will ever cheat on the other. They made a vow to each other--even before they were married, when they were only engaged--that they would never once even think about cheating on the other. And a vow is a vow.
Gian-Nathan is now currently happily working as Lupo's assistant librarian as well as being the assistant pastoral associate at Chiesa dei Santi Carmelitani. Amaryllia is staying at home--or sometimes going with Gian-Nathan--and writes. Her most current book is called "Figlia del Carmelo" and is about a young girl who becomes a Carmelite... and then discovers her true origins--that her father, a terrible priest named Padre Giacobbe, was also a Carmelite who raped a Carmelite sister, Suor Veronica del Cristo Crocifisso, who became her mother. Padre Giacobbe was sent to jail and excommunicated, but Suor Veronica, after giving birth to her daughter, was accepted back into the community. The poor girl, now known as Suor Elisabetta della Immacolata Concezione, must find a way to forgive herself as she struggles with how to deal with herself and her now conflicting feelings about the Carmelite order. Amaryllia based her story off a good friend of hers.
Amaryllia and Gian-Nathan are quite content to live in their poverty-stricken state. They don't want to have the money that Giovanni could offer them. They just want to live as they are and live in dependence on Christ.
