Good choice.
Basil is an underrated gem of a name. It's known, but not overly used. The only slight down-side is here in the U.S. it might be pronounced as "BAY-zil," like the herb. Hate that.
Basil ("BAZ-l") is tall, dark and handsome. It has a slightly exotic / Eastern intrigue to it.
Growing up I used to watch a lot of old Hollywood movies.

Sherlock Holmes was a favorite. That's where I began to love the name.
