[Opinions] Shea
What do you think of Shea for a girl? Pronounced SHAY. Would you rather see Shea, Shae, Shay or Shaye? Shai?Do you know anyone named this? Do you think Shea would get mispronounced?

I know boys and girls named Shea (with this spelling). No, I don't think it would be mispronounced. I honestly don't know how else you would pronounce it.

I've always liked the name, but prefer the spelling Shae or even Shay. I don't know anyone with the name. Depending on where you live, Shea might get mispronounced yes.

I prefer it for a boy, but I don't mind it for a girl. The only spelling I like is Shea.I have met one female Shea, a little girl about five years old, and I also have a male Shay in my toddler class (I work at a daycare.)

I don't like Shea for a girl. At all. I don't kow why. It just seems very masculine to me for some reason. I quite like it for a boy, actually.
I think I prefer the Shea spelling for a girl or possible Shay. Those are the only ones that look right to me. ETA: I think it's common enough for people to know how to pronounce it.

I love it! There's a little girl in my neighborhood named Shea, she's about eight years old. I am Irish-American so I like the Irish aspect of it, also the sound, light and pretty.

UghI know SO MANY Shea's. The name is everywhere. I've been living between 2 states for the last few months and in both of them there has been at least 4 or 5 Sheas in proximity to me. The name is tiresome.I'll briefly describe the last 3 Shea's I've come into contact with. One Shea turned into a psycho stalker ex-boyfriend of a friend of mine. He was creeping up to her window and knocking on it at 2 in the morning! She had to call security to get rid of him.The next Shea was the worst, though. A girl who was so horrifically catty, slutty, and just a horrible person all around. Last I heard, she lost a bit of weight and became even MORE judgmental and evil. I don't even know how that is possible, though, considering how bad she was to begin with. Not to mention she had a penchant for wearing way too much makeup, luring older men into her room then claiming they were trying to take advantage of her. Ugh.The last Shea isn't bad. I work with him. He is very tall and very skinny. I joke that when he turns sideways and sticks out his tongue he looks like a zipper. He's nice enough, if a bit slacker-ish, so he's an okay association. But overall: no. Way too popular, way too many bad connotations. But if you really love it, at least have the decency to spell it Shea.

It doesn't even make the top 1000 as far as I know. So it must be a HUGE coincidence that you know so many Sheas. Maybe they all live where you live :P

Yeah, I noticed that. But that seems like a really big coincidence considering how much I move. Maybe I am a Shea-attracter!!

I think Shea is lovely on a girl, although I do know a male Shea who is very masculine and pulls the name off beautifully. I prefer Shea to any other spelling - and Shai is pronounced SHY. I do know someone with the middle name Shea - Leah Shea is her name. Pronounced LAY-uh SHAY. I always thought that was really lovely. I don't think it would get mispronounced often, but I could be wrong.I think it lends itself to a longer middle name, a timeless classic, or a two-syllable unisex/unusual middle name. So, something like Shea Vivienne, Shea Lavinia, Shea Victoria, Shea Jocasta (ambitious, yes), Shea Cornelia, or Shea Penelope would work. You could also have Shea Margaret, Shea Katherine, Shea Sarah, Shea Eleanor, Shea Julia, or Shea Laura. I also think a name like Shea Harper, Shea Alix, Shea Morwen, Shea Autumn, Shea Linnet, or Shea Holly would work nicely.

I like the name Shea, but I do prefer it for a boy. I would rather see Shea. It looks "cleaner" if that makes sense at all. I know a girl Shae, a boy Shaye, and a boy Shea. Shea never had any problems at my high school. I think the last name O'Shea is common enough that it shouldn't cause problems.

I know a Nishea. People prounce her name properly, so I think Shea would be OK.

I know a male Shea. I think it looks VERY feminine though. I like it but I keep wanting to pronounce it Shay-a instead of Shay.
I like Shay and Shae. Also Shaya/Shayha (Shay-a). I like the look of Shea, and I actually like both pronunciations, but it's unintuitive for me to say it the same as Shay.
Shaye is bleah, nobody needs that extra e. Shai is very "Shy" and not very "Shay".

Shea butter, comes to mind immediately! I don't like it!

I knew one Shea a long time ago when I was in high school. It's weird because, back then, I thought her name was really masculine, but now it sounds very feminine. It's weird how such perceptions can change over time. I think Shea is reasonably well known and won't be mispronounced all that often. Even people who aren't familiar with Shea as a personal name might have heard of shea butter, right? I definitely prefer the Shea spelling; the other spellings look dumbed down. Normally, I like short, one-syllable names, but something about Shea feels unfinished. It's not one of my favorites.

I knew two girls named Shea growing up, they never had problems with it or pronunciation as far as I know but I dont care for it as a name, always seemed sort of lower class to me.
