Help[Opinions] How do you pronounce Ceres?
I've heard so many different ways and Btn doesn't post the prn (I hate when they don't!) so I was just curious as to how you guys pronounce it?
Also, wdyto it? I'm probably never going to use it--maybe a random side character in a minor story--but I was more curious on how you all pronounce it than anything else.

I'm pretty sure in the correct Latin pronunciation the 'c' is hard (as in a 'k' sound), but don't quote me on that.
It's a nice sounding name, but unfortunately I could never use it because it reminds me of cereal (the name of which is actually derived from Ceres).

I'd pronounce it Seer-ees, and that's too close to series for me. But all ancient goddess names have a certain amount of cool, and I'd be happy to see it on a person.

Just like the word series. I really like Ceres but I'd never use it. I would be delighted to meet someone with the name though.

It just depends. I've pronounced it SEHR-ihs and SEER-ees.

I pronounce it like the word "series", and I really like it. My biggest issue with it I guess is its similarity to cereal and the fact that I think cereal was originally derived from Ceres, but I'm not sure if that's really that problematic.

Yes, I like the "series" and the "sairies" pronounciations. "Series" kind of reminds me of Sirius, which in turn reminds me of Harry Potter and that makes my nerdiness squirm with delight.
It being connected to cereal does make me hesitate but then I realize that it doesn't really sound like the word cereal so whatever.

I have no idea. My first instinct was SEH-ris but now I think it may be seh-REES. No idea, sorry.

SEE-reez or SEH-rees seem to be correct. They doesn't sound exactly like "series" to me, just close. I very much doubt that it is the original pr., though. So probably all pr. that have been listed here are wrong. I don't think they pronounced the R like the English R.

I say it like... hmm... "sairies" might be the best way to describe it. Like it rhymes with "Mary's". Or fairies. But I've heard others say it like "series", which I think makes it sounds harsh. Buuut that's probably the correct version, since the word "cereal" comes from the same root...

I noticed in the comments someone pronounced it 'series' but I do like the way 'sairies' sounds. It sounds cute and spunky. Maybe perfect for the character I'm attempting to name! :)
