Help[Facts] Hedy is also a nn for Hedwig

I am sure many American girls used the American-looking nn Hedy for Hedwig, since Hedwig probably was mispronounced a lot in English (it is not pronounced as "head-wig"). Also, many nn are used as formal names too (cf. Kate, Jack, Sadie, Jamie etc.)
Since I don't know Greek, I can't say anything about a Greek name Hedy.
