I love this name. It's so simple and sweet and underused at the moment. Never liked Julia, but Julie is lovely. WDYT? Dated? Do you know any?

Julie feels dated to me and a little bit downmarket, because it was part of a trend for French names here that started in the late 40s (along with Suzanne, Yvonne, Valerie and quite a few others). It's not a classic, like Julia. I know a French Julie in her 20s, though, so I think it might have had a little resurgence over there. I also know an Australian Julie in her 60s, but weirdly, no British ones at all. Lots of Julias, though, and a couple of Juliets, and a Juliane, who is Swiss.
Julia is the only one I really like much, but I think Julie is perfectly usable, and doesn't need to be short for anything.

I knew a few Julies growing up (born 60s-70s), have known many older ones, and have seen one among my kids' preschool peers. I think because it's a nick for Julia, it's not really that dated. There's also a Julia among the children of my friends, whose mom does not like her called Julie.
I don't care for Juliet much. It's too associated with Shakespeare. It's okay, but nms. Juliette is about the same - I'm neutral on it. I prefer Juliet slightly because the stress is on the first syllable (I say JUliet / juliETTE).

I actually prefer Julie to Julia. It sounds sweeter and more friendly. I do find it more dated, though, since I've known so many throughout my life. BTW, I basically pronounce Juliet and Juliette the same way. Between Juliana and Julianna, the former (by far). If I had to choose among Julianne, Juliana and Julianna? Juliana again. Overall, I prefer Juliet followed by Juliana.

Julie was a Top 20 name the year I was born, so I grew up with a lot of them, and I still know quite a few my age, give or take 15 years. Because of this, it does feel far more dated to me than Julia, Juliet, Juliana, Julianna, or Julienne. Julie also feels very nicknamey to me, despite knowing full well that it's a complete and proper name on its own. Sophie and Sylvie don't give me the same feeling at all, so I don't know why I feel this way about Julie, but I do.

I like Julie and Julia. Don't know any Julie's though. If I lived in a different country I'd go with Julia (I just prefer that one today) but if I were to have a baby girl today I'd name her Julie since Julia is so darn common here.
I prfer Juliet "Julie", and I really dislike the Juliette spelling. I prn them slightly different, but I don't think anyone would notice that. :P
And among the others I prefer Juliana, but I don't like any of them. The only Juli- names I like are Julie, Julia and Juliet.

I think Julie is kind of dated. I know about 5 - they're all my Mums friends so aged 40-50. However, I still think it's kind of cute and could work on a child.
