I love it with the Liesl spelling. I've always wondered if I could get away with using it since I'm not German in the least bit...
The Sound of Music happens to be one of my favorite movies, I alway said I would have "girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes" in my wedding but I chickened out and didn't do it :)

I prefer Liesl, it looks less like Diesel with the second e omitted :)

I think that Liesel is ravishingly, subtly beautiful. However, it is a single letter shy of Diesel in English-speaking countries, which may (or may not) be a concern.

I prefer it without the extra e 'cause it's unnecessary... I kinda like the name Liesl. I've known a total of 2. Aside from that, my main association is "The Sound of Music" (1 of the children was named Liesl).

I do think it's a pretty name and it always makes me think of the movie, "The Sound Of Music"! One of DH's cousins has a DD named Liesel, but she is the only one I've ever met.
