It's not bad but it's a bit trashy, in my opinion. It was cool and hip in the 80s and then went down the same path as
Britney. Probably also because of the changing lifestyle of the singer. I'm pretty sure that Britney/Brittany/Brittney and
Whitney's extremely rapid fall can partly be explained by the negative image of the singers. I'm pretty sure that
Whitney Houston made
Whitney popular at first but also helped it to fall quickly when her career didn't go so well anymore.
Britney and
Whitney fit in with all the other similar sounding
Ashley,
Courtney,
Bailey names but none of them have fallen as quickly out of favor.
I don't mind the sound, it's actually pretty. And a
Whitney born today would probably be the only one in her class etc. So if you like it go for it. As long as you don't spell it Whittni (yep, I know one). On Smallville there was a boy named
Whitney and I actually thought it was kind of cool. Still I prefer it on a girl.

I think it needs to be paired with a C name. That way it has a lovely white and silver image to me.
