I like Melissa, not so much Melinda, it's a bit silly-sounding to me.

Melinda is cute but seems a bit dated to me (especially when I think of the nn, Mindy). It's not bad though I prefer my friend's name, Belinda, which seems less dated and more classic for some reason.Of your combos, I like Melinda Charlotte and Melinda Rosemary (so sweet!) best.

It's a nice-sounding name w/ a fun and friendly feel to it and not overused... all points in its favour. As for the best combos, hmmm... As much as I love Roxanne, it doesn't really sound quite right w/ Melinda. May be the stress on the n sounds in both names... Viviane has the same problem. So does Celestine.Beatrice, Beatrix and Beryl kinda work. (I'm not usually a Beatrice and Beatrix fan, but it works in the mn position here) Though I rarely like Bryony, it sounds nice here, though its meaning is somewhat odd for a name.Clare's kinda boring in the mn spot, but ok.
Sybil and Verity are ok.
Like Charlotte enough on its own, but maybe it would sound better in the other order.
Emiline's ok on its own, but not so wonderful after a name ending in a.
Eve is so-so in this position.
Lucille kinda works.
Rosemary is nice. Rosalie would work too.Not into the MM combos... or the -a A- combos (flow issues). The other mns just don't tend to grab me in and of themselves... w/ or w/out Melinda.

I have really liked Melinda for quite a while now. It gives me a very similar vibe to what you described- quietly quirky. I also like the idea of using Lindy as a nickname, because Mel doesn't appeal to me.Of your combos, I particularly like:
Melinda Alice
Melinda Beatrice
Melinda Beatrix
Melinda Blythe
Melinda Charlotte
Melinda Cleo/Clio
Melinda Eve
Melinda Iris
Melinda Josephine
Melinda Juno
Melinda Pearl
Melinda Phoebe
Melinda Rosemary
Melinda Verity
Melinda Violet ETA: Mindy! I forgot- that was the whole reason I fell for Melinda in the first place. I love Mindy as a nickname.

I can't complain about Melinda, but it isn't serious or stately enough for my taste. Something about it is very weak to me.When I had an emergency appendectomy, I had a nurse named Melinda whom I did not like. She made me uncomfortable and I became upset. I felt like she did not care, honestly. I doubt I will ever shake that association. These are choice:Melinda Agnes
Melinda Alice
Melinda Amabel
Melinda Beatrice
Melinda Beatrix
Melinda Blythe
Melinda Charlotte
Melinda JosephineI'd add:Melinda Catherine
Melinda Caroline
Melinda Florence
Melinda Frances
Melinda Guinevere
Melinda Jane
Melinda Louise
Melinda Mary
Melinda Rose
Melinda Ruth

I always liked Melinda. It's light and pretty but not frilly, and everybody can say and spell it.
My best friend is named Melinda Erin. She's called Mindy for short. I don't know too many Melindas that aren't Mindy.Of your combos, the only one I like is Melinda Opal. Most are just too heavy on the syllables, and the middle names seem like they're overcompensating for Melinda not being "classic" or something.

I love Melinda. It's very pretty.Intellectual? Now that you mention it, Melinda really does sound intellectual. Maybe it's because of Melinda Gates :D.
