I don't mind Rowan on a boy or girl. But Roan just reminds me of the pencil crayon colour "roan red" that I grew up with. Doesn't really seem like a name to me, although it definitely screams male if it must be on a person.

Thanks! Roan=cows for me now lol. I think Rowan is a truly unisex name as well.
