Well, I think it's butch sounding and is traditionally masculine, and I like it as a guy name. On a girl it seems sort of saucy or precious or cheesy, because of St Valentine's Day. I think because it's traditionally male, a girl called Valentine sounds like she oughta be someone's sweetheart - but a guy called Valentine just has an unusual name, that unfortunately happens to be associated with a corny occasion. I'd rather be valenTEEN or Valentina as a girl.
