[Opinions] Piper
My husband is a pilot and really likes to fly "Piper Cubs" I have been toying with using Piper as a middle name as a fun nod to this...my combo right now is Rosalie Piper. So, WDYT?
*note, I would prefer Rosemary to Rosalie but my husband says he can only think of food after hearing someone say "Rosemary" and can't see it on a person.

I think it's really cute, but it doesn't age the best. I still like it a lot though. And since it's the middle name, aging doesn't matter as much.
I really like Rosalie, too! Great combo! Especially since it has a meaning :)

I have no issue with it as a middle name, especially if it has significance to you like that. Wouldn't recommend it as a first name though, it's not so great imo. And I never really though that until hearing it in real life. Rosalie is very pretty, good combo!

I think Piper works ok as a surname, but is really ugly as a fn... esp. on a girl. Sorry. It just really lacks appeal and I don't understand the trend of using this as a fn.

we are using it as a middle name....nothing

Even then, it feels kind of unnatural unless it is honouring for someone with it as a surname.

I always want to put Pied in front of Piper. The Pied Piper.

How about Lemon Piper? Or Sand Piper? Or even Peter Piper?Seriously, I never got the appeal of Piper. It sounds like a name for a hyperactive puppy. A little black dog with a tail that goes faster than a speeding bullet. Also, I'm reading a book now called "Death and Oil" about a famous North Sea oil rig disaster in 1988, and the rig was the Piper Alpha.

:-) Like the puppy comparison.

Rosalie Piper is very sweet. It flows well and has an energetic flair to it. When I think of Piper as a name I imagine a medieval piper, maybe playing a flute. Next to Piper in the group is Harper on his/her harp. So for me Piper is musical.Piper Avalon and Piper Linnea ("li-NAY-uh") are my stock Piper combos.

Honestly I really hate Piper. It just doesn't sound like a name to me.

What about Rosemarie instead of Rosalie or Rosemary? ROSE ma REE. I think it is flowier than Rosemary.I'm honestly not impressed with flying as an inspiration for naming a girl Piper. My husband is a pilot and flew a Piper Cherokee and then a Comanche. I think naming our daughter Piper after the planes would be not unlike naming her Cessna or Beechcraft. It'd be more meaningful, actually, to name her One Two Whisky. ;-)Planes aside, I don't really like Piper as a name. I think it tries too hard to be spunky and glam ... and it's really kind of ugly. However, it's my opinion that middle names can be pretty much whatever you want, as long as they pass the "would I like to have this as my own name" test, and how they combine with a first name is of no consequence at all, as long as there isn't a pun or a phrase or embarrassing initials.

I don't like Piper as a first name, but think it's fine as a middle name, especially when there's a meaning behind it.

Rosalie Piper...sounds festive to me. For some strange reason, I picture Scottish kilts and parades, people singing and clutching beer steins, that sort of thing. It just gives me that feeling.

I kind of like that image...is that weird?

I always thought it was kind of ugly and stripper-ish. Also it reminds me of Charmed which I never liked. The sound is kind of awkward, I just don't think it's a pretty name. And the nickname Pipe isn't exactly appealing. Rosalie is cute but too Twilight for me. Rosalie Piper is fine but it makes me think of a pink colored pipe.

Piper isn't my cup of tea. I can't pronounce it correctly since I'm a Swede and in Swedish "piper" means "whining" or something like that. So Rosalie Piper? Rosalie whining. And it doesn't help in the FN position either (Rosalie whining vs. are Rosalie whining?).
Besides that, I also think of the Charmed series. That said, I think it would be perfectly fine in the MN position in a English speaking country. I wouldn't use it as a FN though, mostly because of what it means in Swedish but also because I think a lot of people will think of "Charmed". Edit: I really like Rosalie, and if you're using Piper then I think Rosalie Piper would be a really nice combo.
