As indicated by my post just below, this is the name of one of my nieces. When I first heard it, I was rather surprised, because it does have a dated feel. Then again, it was never really popular, so it's not dated the same way that other names are, that were mega-popular at one time.
I'd never given the name a moment's thought before my sister chose it for her daughter, but I know that I never would have thought it "bad". As it is, I think it's rather cute, and---dare I say it?----yes, I do!----refreshing.
My sister's two older daughters are from her first marriage, and the two younger are from her second marriage. When it came to naming the older two, Mara and Brenna, she was very picky, and wouldn't agree to anything that her husband liked but she didn't. When it came to the younger two, when she had a different husband, it was way different. He suggested both names, Kaylen and Janine, and the fact that he liked them was good for enough for my sister.
