Help[Games] KUY Royal Congrats Sign-Up
Haven't done a royal congrats in a while, and they're always a lot of fun. This one will be KUY, so it will in all likelihood go on for at least two generations. I will provide the sex of the new addition (as well as any multiples), how many years have gone by, and links to all past rounds. Each round there will be a naming rule or bank and a prompt for anyone who wishes to follow it (I personally always love following a story for my royals).
For sign-up: Choose your political system. Kingdom, queendom, dukedom, empire, dictatorship--anything. Give the appropriate title to your royal couple. Ruling women are fine in any system, as are same-sex couples (though you must either give your game a setting where artificial insemination can produce heirs or where blood heirs are not important.) Lovers of either sex for either sex are also permitted.
Prompt: After more than six months, the coronation of the new ruler has finally been held. It has been a sad time for the people, as the old monarch was well loved, but a busy one. For not only did the new ruler take the throne, but a few months before the coronation he/she also married. They chose their consort from a very prominent and powerful family, one well respected and long established. Is it a love match or just a political move? How does the kingdom feel about their new rulers? How the the new ruler feel about taking the throne?

Ascent is a very military society, rebuilt amid much conflict following a nuclear collapse. The late emperor, Vidal, had been ill for some time and passed away peacefully and not unexpectedly. Vidal had been a strong military commander and had made some controversial decisions over the years. Though he was a just and level-headed ruler who was well loved, he did have a deeply-buried network of alliances as well as dissenters. His son Rolf was slated to assume power when he returned home from his current mission. However, Rolf was killed in the field, throwing the empire's plans off course. The next relative in line was Vidal's cousin Augustine Grimes, also a high-ranking military man. He honourably refused the position, however, passing it on to his son, Oberon, Ascent's youngest council member. (The council supports and advises the emperor, and provides a channel between the voices of the empire and its citizens, but decision-making power is ultimately vested solely in the emperor.)
Oberon feels very out of his depth and somewhat resents his father for putting him in this unexpected position, but he is determined to safeguard his home. Augustine and many other council members trust in his judgement. The citizenry at large has nothing against him yet, though since Vidal was well loved they are reluctant to give a young, relatively unheard-of ruler their full support and love.
Of course, when Oberon gained power it was clear he would have to marry. He was not a direct descendant of Vidal Valenti's line; the Grimes name is a long line of respected officers and minor politicians, but there were still doubts among the council that this would hold enough clout to guarantee allegiance from the hierarchy of corporations and powerful citizens needed to secure order in the complex workings of the Empire. The most suitable match the council presented was the highly desirable Lady Vivian Stefanis, daughter of a business magnate and member of a family who had held the monarchy in the past.

Aftokratira means Empress, Vasilissa means Queen, and Komissa means Countess. And adoption is very common among the nobility, so same sex couples are fine in this verse.
Alexandra was adopted from the Priestesses by Aftokratira Marina when she was fourteen, and when Marina saw how suited Alexandra was she began to groom her to take over the position one day. In fact, Alexandra has been handling most of Suleriun since Marina took sick nine months ago, though she could not formally inherit until the Aftokratira passed away.
Marina insisted that Alexandra marry, since she wanted to see her adopted daughter marry before she died, so Alexandra began to search among the nobility for a consort. A month into her search, Paraskeve Feuuari was presented at court and she fell in love with the teenagers dark skin and hair, and began to get to know the young Komissa. The two hit it off well enough and were married a month and a half later.
For Alexandra it is a lust match, although she hopes it will blossom into love as well since she greatly admires Paraskeve's strength and iron-will. But for Paraskeve it's purely political, her family has been training her and her siblings to be on the throne through whatever means necessary for their entire lives.
Suleriun is, overall, very happy with their new rulers, and they expect things to continue mostly as normal. And the newlyweds feel very confident about their ascension to the throne, since both have been trained for it.

No man has sat on the throne of Camora in generations. The legendary Queen Renata, who was hailed as queen over all after her armies defeated invaders and united all Camora, declared that her people should be ruled as a mother rules her children--with compassion, love, and rationality. For women, as wisdom of the time said, were calmer, more rational, and less warlike. So Renata set up her daughter to rule after her, and there have been fewer than ten ruling kings in all the history of Camora. Though of course it is no longer believed that men are generally less rational or more warlike than women, there has been one other very good reason to keep women in power: it can always be certain that a woman's children are her own, and therefore an heir of royal blood can always be proven. Therefore, daughters have always been treasures in the eyes of Camoran rulers.
Maddalena has been destined to rule since her birth. She is the granddaughter of Queen Rose, her eldest grandchild and daughter of Princess Ginevra, the former heir. Ginevra was set to take the throne upon her mother's death, but fate decided differently. When Maddalena was fourteen, her mother was thrown from her horse. While she survived, the accident crippled her. After it became clear that Ginevra would never be able to walk again, she made the decision to give up her birthright in favor of her daughter. Maddalena has been raised to rule since birth, so when her grandmother died when she was a few months from her twenty-first birthday, she felt prepared. Though she could not take the throne until she turned twenty-one and came of age, the last six months were still full of preparations. Her very first order of business was to marry.
