Behind the Name says that Anthony comes from the Roman family name Antonius, which is of unknown Etruscan origin. I've seen this repeated on several other websites, but they don't say why people believe it is Etruscan (specifically Etruscan, not from some other ancient Italian language) when no-one knows its meaning. Does anyone know why Anthony is believed to be Etruscan?
