Help[Opinions] Wilhelmina vs. Willemina
Which spelling do you prefer: the more widely used German-origin (in the English-speaking world) Wilhelmina; or the less common yet more phonetically (in the English language) spelled Dutch-origin Willemina?

Admittedly, the Wilhelmina spelling makes me want to put an unnatural "hel" sound in there, BUT, Willemina just does not look right. Why can't I have Wilhemina :(

Definitely Wilhelmina. Willemina isn't half so charming.

I prefer Wilhelmina but it might be because it's the one I'm more used to as a German.

In my mind I pronounce the "h", even though it's not really supposed too be said, and that sounds better to me and looks better. It also breaks up the name so it looks like a whole word and not Willem-ina. (I don't know why it doesn't look like Wilhelm-ina, but it doesn't as much to me...)

It's actually supposed to be said, though not in English I guess ;)

I'm German American, and my Great Grandma M., two great great aunts, and Great Great Grandma M. who all share the name were Wilhelmina. It's also the spelling I instinctively write.

I prefer the unapologetic and obsolete grandeur of Wilhelmina, though Willemina is also lovely.

I like both of them. I think I'd probably choose Wilhelmina on grounds of familiarity, but Willemina is pretty and sweet and it would be nice to see it.
