[Opinions] Male Twins
What would your impression be if you heard male twins named Asa and Ezra? Too similar, or adequately contrasted and complementary?

I once knew a boy named Ezra and am a fan, I really dislike Asa though and yes, find them too similar. Ezra's brother was Yasha? I think anything that doesn't start in a vowel or end in an 'a' would be suitable

I would feel that they are too similar. What about Hosea and Ezra?

I think it's too close.
I mean, the names are both fine, but not together.

-The names go together well
-Both are biblical, but not 'typical' biblical names ('typical' categories, to me, would include 'Jonah/Noah/etc', 'Jacob/Isaac/etc', and 'Jeremiah/Jedidiah/etc')
-Both are 2 syllables and end in -a (unpopular for boys names)
-Not contrasted or complementary
-Very similar (in a good way-- not too similar, but similar enough that they go together very well)
-Their middle names should also be very similar
-I'm picturing parents somewhere between "Amish" and "Hipster" (wanted Biblical names, wanted to match the styles of the twins' names, didn't want to use typical or common/popular names)
-Both names are old-fashioned but not dated (making them good hipster material and also good general uncommon-and-old-but-usable Biblical names)
-They seem nice and laid-back (the names have a feminine sound to them, especially compared to most names of kids born recently, so they're far from the Ryders and Strykers and look-at-me-I'm-a-boy names. They seem very secure and confident-- "talk softly and carry a big stick" type names. They don't sound badass or anything, but they're secure in their history.)
-The names are short and simple, but they're strong because they have long histories
-I'd imagine these names, especially Ezra, on a very interesting person (someone who is interesting to talk to, studies an unusual and interesting subject, has a unique and maybe historical-type hobby, etc)

I would constantly get them mixed up. I find them way too similar.

Trendy but tasteful. They are pretty similar given the length, vowel placement, etc. but I don't tend to have a big problem with that as long as it's not too ridiculous (like Asa and Ava or Ezra and Isra, or whatever). Ultimately I figure, why fight against what you like?

I'd say it's no different from having two girls named Anna and Emma. Yes, the similarities are there, however, they don't rhyme and it isn't tacky. In my view they're complementary. BTW, I have a nephew named Ezra. His brothers are Noah and Christian. His mom wanted to name Christian Solomon was but was outvoted. Anyway, the point I'm making is that Ezra and Noah have similarities as well and it's not really a problem with this sibset. No one trips over their names. If anything, Christian is the odd man out since his name has such a different style from his older brothers' names.

While I adore both names (Ezra is my current top boys name, Asa is on the short list) saying them together like that I realize that yeah they are way too similar and sing song for brothers and especially twins. I hadn't realized before but now I know I wouldn't use the two.I'd go for another unusual biblical name to compliment like Ezra and Boaz, or Asa and Zimri.

I dislike both Boaz and Zimri.

I'd think their parents had good taste. :-)
Also that they likely came from a Protestant, fairly religious household.

Yeah, I think they are a little too similar. They kind of run together in my mind.I adore Asa- it's one of my favorite names- but I've never been crazy about Ezra. I don't know, I just don't like the 'zr' sound in the middle.
