Alice Virginia used to be one of my top combos. LOVE LOVE LOVE! So perfect. :)

My great-grandmother's name was Virginia Rose, and I think it's a sweet name. Her nickname was Ginia, and I like Ginny as a nickname as well. I rate it 7 or 8.

The only thing that keeps it from being a 10 for me is that I do see how a sensitive tween/teen could be embarrassed by Virginia and hate having it as her name. I think she'd get over it as she and her peers mature, though, so Virginia remains one of my favorites. It makes a terrific middle name, but I love it best as a first name. It's intelligent, elegant, and so pretty; I almost hate to hide away in the middle spot. My stock combo is Virginia Estelle.

I just read your grandmother's name was Virgie Estelle. :) How funny. Apparently, many people think Virginia/Virgie and Estelle work well together. I know there was one (a Virginia Estelle) on the Titanic, too.

There are worse names, but it's all virgin to me. It's better in the middle -- Alice Virginia is a gorgeous combo.

I'd give it a 4 as a first name and an 8 as a middle name. Alice Virginia is a lovely combo. I just don't like it as a first name, because all I really see is 'virgin'.

I would rate it higher but it always bothers me that it is the name of a state. I have the same problem with Georgia.

Though Virginia and Columbia are probably my favorite state / district names for girls. I know they were names before they were a state and a district but I just find it so hard to get past.

I like Virginia with the nn Ginnie / Ginny. Virgie / Virgy is also cute but reminds me of the word virgin. But I guess Ginny sounds a bit like gin, but I still like Ginny as a nn.

I like this name but don't love it. I prefer the names Eugenia, Regina, and Georgina. I like the nn Genie for all three of these.

I like Alice Virginia, is a nice enough combo. I don't love it or hate it. It is usable and I like it. The combo Alice Virginia has a lot of i's so I think it will look best with a surname that contains an i or two but doesn't have too many i's. That way it will match but won't look overboard.

Used to not like it because I more thought of Virginia as the state and there wasn't much appeal for me. As I got older, I started to love Virginia Woolf and that association is really great for me so I warmed up to it a lot more.

Alice Virginia is fine, seems more of a grandmother-ish name paired like that though? Not that I'm totally against names like that, I think Virginia Pearl would be pretty or Iris Virginia, I don't know. Just a weird vibe I get from it.

Teasing is sometimes mentioned, but I think the potential is overrated. The pronounciation isn't VIRGIN-e-ah.
And after all,at an age when children might be teased about their names, a reference to being a virgin isn't what might come to mind.Little kids tend to go for bathroom references.

I like the image it gives me. It's a very elegant name and its white in color. I know a very nice Virginia who was born in the mid 80s so I have a good association with it. From my experience it has been used quite a bit until the late 80s or early 90s, I've heard of several Virginias who are in their 20s now. It only seems to be extremely uncommon for people born in the mid 90s and later. I also know a Virginya who was born in the early 80s but I don't care for the spelling.

Virginia was my favorite name when I was about 14. I still like it a lot and would love to see it used. The reason why it doesn't get 10 points: virgin jokes and the nickname Ginger. Well, actually all of its nicknames. Ginny, Gin, Ginna, Ginger, Virgie. I only like it in its full form. I don't find Ginny horrible, but I really dislike the others and most of them make me think of gin (alcohol).

I've loved it for a long time and it's very dear to me. It's on our back-up list for our daughter, in case she suddenly is not a Margaret (which won't happen, but better to be prepared)! It's a very nice purple to me, and feels strong and domestic and makes me think of having tea in an English garden.
