Even though we're not planning on more kids, I still like coming up with names. This just might be one I suggest should the time ever come.

Am I way off track here if Elsianne kind of sort of reminds me of the pronunciation of Halcyon with the H dropped? Probably, hm?
Anyway, it's kind of "too late" for me now. You see, while I'm usually not a huge fan of "made-up" names (with the odd exception), I think I like Elisanne due to my Halcyon association which makes me think of "halcyon days" and yeah... it probably helps, too, that Elisanne fits in with other names ending in -anne.
So I don't think it's horrible, I like it better than "just Elsie" and it has piqued my interest.

I usually don't like smushed names, but I like this. Still, I think just Elsie Ann(e), called by both names, is nicer.

I'm not a fan. It sounds like a smushed name, which I usually don't like.

Yes, I'd have to say so. Elsie is spunky in itself, though NMS, and I generally don't like -anne names. There is a lack of creativity in them, in some instances (obviously not all of them, I don't want to generalize). I just think there are better names out there.

I agree with another poster, I'd rather see Elizabeth Anne "Elsie."

It's not too bad, but I prefer Elsie Anne or Elsie-Anne rather than a smushed version.

Can you hear the French pronunciation of Suzanne or Marianne in your head? In South Africa there is a well-known though not very well used combination of Elizabeth and Anne - Elzaan. It had that long French -a- and the second syllable is emphasised.

I wouldn't advise going for the SA pronunciation! But I do think that Elzanne flows better than Elsianne, though of course the -s- becomes a -z- which you might not want.

Simply put, yes, it is horrible. Very creative and trendy, and it just doesn't look nice. I would much rather see Elisabeth Anne nn "Elsie"!
