[Opinions] Madeleine
Is this usuable?
Or does the cartoon and Madeleine McCann torpedo it?

Definitely usable. I know quite a few young Madeleines and Maddys
I think it's still very usable. I prefer Madeline, though.
It's totally usable, bro. The cartoon is a positive, if anything. I know, like, 1000 young Madeleines
FWIW, I find it unbearable. Madeline prn -line I like a lot more, but I don't actually like it.

I LOVE Madeleine and Madeline. Prefer the Madeline pronunciation. It's probably in my top 5 favorite names.
I like Madelyn as well, but not as much as Madeline/Madeleine. I like any spelling of the Madelyn pronunciation (as long as it's not super creative like Maddahlyne or something)

Totally usable. The cartoon is spelled Madeline, I believe, just to note.
It's usable. The book/cartoon character is named Madeline rather than Madeleine, so no, I don't think that the cartoon ruins it. There are a lot of little girls named Madeline these days, so I'd say that a lot of people don't think that the cartoon ruins it.
Madeleine is well known enough that the Madeleine McCann association doesn't ruin it either.

I think it's definitely usable. It's a popular enough name that people will have more associations than the Madeline cartoon or Madeleine McCann.
The Madeline books are a pretty cute association for me. At least where I live, people would be more likely to associate Madeleine with the books than the poor little girl.
Also, madeleine cookies are a delightful association! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madeleine_(cake)

It's usable, but I don't really care for it one way or another.
I am pretty sure the name is not rare enough to be ruined by these things.
If you count all 3 popular spellings, it's about as frequently used as Lily and Grace right now. Which isn't all that frequent - fewer than 1 in 200 babies/year. I think it might be rare enough for people over 25, though, that it would seem rather unusual as a name for an adult today.
