Does anyone know what the feminine name Maïka (or Maika) means? It's quite popular in Quebec (last year it ranked at #16). Does anyone know why?

Well, I don't know about English-speaking countries, but in Germany and neighbouring countries Maika, Maiken, Meike and Maike are Low-German and Frisian diminutives of Maria.
