Well, it looks like my middle daughter and her boyfriend will be engaged by their birthdays at the end of this month. They're looking at rings and hope to marry after her college graduation in December of this year. She told me yesterday that she really likes
Isidora with the nn
Izzy and wanted to know what I thought. Honestly, I think
Izzy is played out and the name feels a tad heavy and not totally refreshing after all the girls named
Isabella,
Isabel,
Isabelle,
Isobel, etc. I did tell her that
Isidora is the feminine form of
Isidore ("gift of
Isis") so she needs to keep that second i in the name. That surprised her since
Isadora seems the intuitive spelling based on the way we pronounce it. If I can help it, my future grandchild will have her named spelled the most correct way!
So, I want to love the name but just can muster up the feeling yet. WDYT of
Isidora?
BTW, the boy name they like?
Jethro! Give me strength! It doesn't even remotely complement
Isidora so I'm hoping they'll change their minds on that.
