After five years, Charlie and I were beginning to think our family was complete. As it turned out, we're actually expecting again! It's another boy, whom we plan to name Tristan. Lachlan and Jack are absolutely thrilled to be getting a little brother; Emma, not so much.
Jack and Emma have recently started going to kindergarten at the same school Lachlan attends. At first, they were pretty hesitant, but they quickly opened up and now love hanging out with the other children. Their teacher says that they're both doing exceptionally well. Jack loves building things and plays with the blocks almost all day. Emma has an eye for drawing and is rarely seen without a crayon in her hand.
Lachlan, now in the third grade, is proud to be able to show his younger brother and sister how elementary school works. He acts annoyed sometimes that they follow him and his friends around, but I know he secretly likes being looked up to. Lachlan has also recently taken up playing soccer. He's really rather good and is one of his team's starting forwards. Unfortunately, his grades have been slipping (he just brought home his report card; he's doing fine in gym class but barely got by with C plusses in all his other subjects). Charlie and I really want him to do better in school, so we gave him an ultimatum: either he pull his grades back up to a B average, or he stops playing soccer. It's a bit harsh, but so far nothing else has worked.
Now that spring break is almost here, Charlie and I have decided to take the kids on a trip to Disneyland. We'll be staying for the whole week; the kids are so excited (and, admittedly, so are we)!
