[Opinions] Max?
What's your opinion of Max as a stand alone name, not Maximilian, Maxim, etc...?

Using just Max is the best way to use it IMO. Why elaborate. It's not really more informal than Jack, and elaborating Max to Maximilian or Maximus or whatever seems as goofy to me as elaborating Jack to Jackson. It doesn't add any depth, it just weights it down. Max is a fine short name, just as it is. Max Charles is great! I'd use that.

It works; it's a an open, friendly, solid sort of name. I do prefer some longer forms myself, but I wouldn't meet a Max and feel he'd been short-changed in the name department, though I would hope he had a distinctive middle name to go with.

I prefer it as a stand-alone, I think. The others are nmsaa or much too long or both.I like Max, though I'd probably never use it. It'd be fun to meet a small, new Max.

I love the name Max, so I don't mind if it's the full name or a nn for a longer name. Personally I prefer just Max.

I can't get behind Max. I want to like it, it seems like a name I should like but for some reason I never have. I don't even know why. I'm not really a fan of any Max names either, but I do sort of like Maxim and Maksim. The magazine kind of ruins Maxim for me though.

It's cute and works on its own. But it is getting way too trendy. I think I'd rather use Macsen. Which may have a trendy sound but is classic. Then he could go by Macsen or by Mac should there be another Max in his class.

I like Max on its own way better than I like any of the names it might be a nn for. But I don't like Max, just the same. It's a pet's name, and overused even in that sense.

Yeah, I thought of it as overused for a long time. But then my significant other said he likes one-syllable names and I remembered hearing a punk-ish version that my brother's friends used: "Max Chaos." Now it just sounds cool. Reminds me of Max Headroom, too, I guess. So I am kind of settled on Max Charles for now.Our favorite girl name is Zoe Cecelia. I do worry a little that Max and Zoe are going to sound extra "dated" together, but perhaps the simplicity of the names trumps my other worries for now.
