[Opinions] Rocco (warning: adult topic)
WDYT of Rocco?According to my some of my friends and some on the internet it's associated with a famous male porn star who has the name. Yes, he is the first thing that comes up when I do a Google search of Rocco. Do you think it might be potentially risqué or embarrassing to call a boy Rocco because of the association with the porn star (outside of countries where the name is common, like Italy)?

It's very familiar in South Africa, where I've never heard of the porn star at all! And my guess is that by the time a newborn Rocco grows up, other male porn stars will have replaced Rocco in the public mind. That said, I don't like it at all. It has a downmarket element to it, although not always of course, and I associate it with the kinds of popular music that have me stampeding for the exit. But this too shall pass!

Lol, I thought Rocco Siffredi was just an actor, as I only knew him from the 1999 French film "Romance" - but apparently he's a porn star as well, heh heh.Anyway, whenever I see the name Rocco, Siffredi isn't my first association at all. My first association is always Rocco Ritchie, as he was the first person I ever heard of having the name. As such, whenever I have to picture what a little Rocco would look like, I picture a smart and handsome little boy. :) And as for an adult Rocco, I picture him to be handsome, strong and no-nonsense.I don't think it would be risqué to name a boy Rocco, because Siffredi isn't well-known at all in my book. I think people would be more likely to think of Rocco Ritchie, who is by far more famous, thanks to his mother. As such, as far as I'm concerned, go ahead if you ever wish to use the name. It's a strong name that isn't very common either, so a little Rocco should always stand out in a positive way. :)

I've never heard of the porn star, but I do know an eleven year old Rocco who likes his name a lot (older brother Augustus nn Gus). I think a select group of people would know first names of even somewhat "famous" adult movie stars.

I've never heard of the porn star. I think the name is fine and my only media-related association is the chef. I quite like Rollo, which also comes to mind.

I hadn't heard of the porn star, but I don't care for the sound of the name. Rocco sounds like a pet's name or a nickname to me. It reminds me of the show Rocko's Modern Life.

I have never heard of the association, personally (I live in the US). I would not think anything of it. I think like any name, it has potential to be used as ridicule, but kids will ridicule no matter what. By the time kids are old enough to get the association, there won't be a lot of time before the teasing years are over. I think it's a safe choice. :)

I like Rocco, and while I've heard of that Rocco guy, I don't really have any idea of who he is, what he looks like or anything. I don't see any problem with Rocco.

Eh, I dunno. It's like how Midori has two famous namesakes in the western world - the alcoholic drink and the porn actress. I still know two half-British girls named Midori. One is the daughter of a family friend who certainly knows it has the odd association and didn't care.Really, I don't like Rocco, but I didn't know the association. If it doesn't bother you, why not in with it?And besides it's not like you're thinking of using Lolita. There are many Roccos, probably, with non-sexual associations.

I've never heard of a porn star called Rocco, but I think Rocco does have that kind of feel to it. I don't really like it anyway.

I've never heard of a porn star with that name. But then, I don't watch porn. I thought of Madonna's son, Rocco Ritchie, and celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito. I don't think it would be risque to use it. If someone thinks it is, they spend too much time watching adult films.

I don't think of a porn star. I think of a cartoon wallaby. Only his spelling was Rocko. :P

Well, I did some googling too and yes, Rocco Siffredi is the first thing to come up. Apparently Rocco is his real first name too.Rocco, if you aren't Italian with an Italian last name, doesn't sound so much risque as it does pretentious and cartoonishly he-man superhero. Even with an Italian last name it sounds kind of over the top.
