I agree with the others that it sounds pretty dated, both in English and French. I prefer Paula, pronounced POW-la as it is in some European languages.

It doesn't have a particularly bad sound or anything, but it does sound very dated to me. I just don't think it would work on a little girl nowadays. Actually most -ette names and all Paul names sound dated in my opinion.

That being said, I think it works fine as a middle name.

Paulette is my newest niece's middle name. In honor of someone in my sister-in-law's family, I believe.

I think it's okay, but it's not my favorite -ette name. There aren't any feminizations of Paul that I like as much as the masculine form.

I really like Paulette! It's charming and spirited. I prefer Pauline, though.

I don't like -ette names, generally. In fact, I can't think of one I do like. They all sound too dated still. Paulette doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

I don't care for it. I like Paul for a boy, but I don't like any of the female versions.
