[Opinions] Peri / Pari
Billina's post on Perion made me remember how much I love these this name. As I stated below Peri / Pari is an Iranian name, meaning fairy. It's a little to cute, plus Peri is is masculine to most people. I'm not sure how I feel about the variation Pari. I'm curious to what others think, and for other names similar to it.

I quite like the sound of Peri but I wouldn't use that spelling. There are too many peri-peri chicken places near where I live so I wouldn't want that association! I have come across a Perri and a Perrie. Not my style but I wouldn't mind seeing it on someone else's child. The meaning of fairy is sweet. I've also known of a male Perry, so I think it could often be spelt wrongly.
Pari I don't like. I can't say why, I just don't like the sound. I think it would often be misspelt as Parry, as in the surname as well.

Interesting. I wonder if peri and fairy are related, Indo-European / linguistically.
Anyway, I'm still not sold on Peri for a girl. But it does remind me of Piera ("Pierre + uh"). I love that one. Or, if you're into fairy like names, how about Siofra ("SHEEF-ruh")?

Perion sounds like a water. lol. Peri is cute when you consider the meaning. It's much better than Perry. I don't like the spelling Pari though.
So when I commented on your Facebook thing about it I didn't know you were serious! Especially since your last name one apparently wasn't! :P
But yeah, I still stand by my facebook comment... peri bottles and periodontal disease are the first things it makes me think of, so not good. Plus yeah, if I heard "Peri" I would assume it was Perry, and a boy. Also since you guys aren't Iranian I think it would be odd to use an Iranian name.
But if you're just asking hypothetically, then I suppose it does have a cute sound.

half serious
It's not husband approved. We really have our name list set. I still like to play with other names.

It sounds indeed a little too cute, and reminds me of words that start with peri like "periphrasis", "perimeter", etc
