[Opinions] Lydia
For years and YEARS I detested the name Lydia based on personal association, always regretting the grudge because I thought the name Lydia was so lovely, but I would never use it. But now, Lydia and I have gotten over the drama and are friends again. I think because of the deprivation I have had, Lydia has arisen for me again as well, straight to the top. Even above Susannah! Oh, and my friend Lydia is expecting a son who she plans to name William Beowulf. Thought I'd throw that in.

I love Lydia, but if I were having a baby in real life, I'm not sure I would seriously consider it. I don't know, there's just something about it that prevents me from accepting it as one of my favorites. Not sure what it is.William Beowulf is one of the best names I've ever heard. That is all.

Wow. William Beowulf is a gutsy combo. Impressive. Good for her. And good for both of you for becoming friends again. Lydia is a lovely name. I'm glad you feel free to love it again. You have until tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. PST to object or I am using it in one of my polls. :-)When I was younger personal associations were difficult to get past. But now, probably because I work on it more, I have an easier time separating the two. For example, I remember making a mental note not to let my love for the name Imelda be influenced by Ms Marcos and her shoes in the 1980s. It worked. So maybe in the future if you set your mind to keeping your love for a favorite name in tact when trouble brews you'll have an easier time as well.

Yay :PLydia is pretty. I'm just starting to get over thinking of it as a 'mom name' since the only Lydia I knew until recently had kids my age. Also, William Beowulf is awesome.
